L'Association Française d'Agronomie

Un lieu d'échanges et de débats, pour une agronomie en prise avec les enjeux sociétaux

www.agronomie.asso.fr

The French Association of Agronomy (AFA), was created on 23/10/2008.
The composition of its elected Board of Directors made  of 21 members reflects the diversity of careers in agronomy and includes  researchers, lecturers, development workers, farmers, public policy officials operating at the local,  national or international levels.

This association wants to be primarily seen as a communication platform among agronomists practicing different occupations and has the following purpose:

    * To  promote the use of concepts, methods and techniques of the agronomy discipline to understand and solve problems related to food, the environment and sustainable development, at relevant scales from the field to the planet;
    * To facilitate the evolution of agronomy , by taking into account the changing societal issues and needs, incorporating new scientific and technological knowledge, and by adapting to the changing world of business related  to  the agronomic expertise.

Thus, the AFA organized  a conference and debate among  agronomists about the aftermath of the "Grenelle of the environment" in 2009 and participates in the organization of the XIth Congress of the European Society of Agronomy scheduled for August 2010 in Montpellier.

The AFA is also organizing the “Entretiens du Pradel?, a biennial event held on the historic Domaine Olivier de Serres in Ardèche (07),  to discuss hot issues linked to the discipline and its practice among  agronomists from different trades.

The AFA is a partner of the European Society for Agronomy (ESA).
